Neil Island is occupies an area of 18.9 square kilometres, and is The island is located 40 kilometres (25 mi) north-east of Port Blair, the capital of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Port Blair is connected with mainland India from both Chennai in the South, and Kolkata in the East through flights.

Regular ferries from Port Blair transfer visitors and local villagers to the lone jetty at Bharatpur, which is the only entry/exit point of the island, Because Neil is so small, you can easily cycle across the island, though motorised transport (called Auto-rikshaws, or tuk-tuks) are available easily

WHEN TO TRAVEL
The ideal time to dive would be typically from October through to May. Our Dive centre will be in operation from October till May.

PERMITS
At present you may extend your permit on Neil Island itself, you must however, have a valid flight ticket, for your departure from, the Andaman Islands, on the date, your extended permit expires.
HOW TO GET THERE
Port Blair can be reached by sea or air. Ship tickets can be booked from Kolkata or Chennai through the Shipping Corporation of India, and the journey takes about 3 days (donít forget to carry your sea legs).
A no. of domestic airlines have flights from Chennai, Calcutta and Bangalore. We suggest you book well in advance as flights get full, as well, as more expensive in the holiday season.
Once at Port Blair, both Government and private ferry services, operate a few times a day,to Neil Island, the ferry ride takes about an hour and forty five minutes.
Ferry tickets need to be booked in advance, from the reservation counter at the jetty. The earliest ferry leaves at 6:30 a.m. There is also a ticket counter at Neil Island (tickets, are a little easier, to get from Neil Island though).

There are no A.T.M.s on Neil Island. However we are able to accept credit card payments, a surcharge of 3% applies. As per Government mandate a service tax will be levied on all prices.

The weather is tropical with a minimum temperature of 23 degrees C, and light cotton clothing is sufficient.
